Institutional Planning & Analysis -- Information Systems/Reports

Policy Owner: Institutional Planning & Analysis
Effective Date:6/1/83

  1. ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTAL STATISTIC DATA SUMMARY
  2. The Institutional Analysis unit publishes an Academic Departmental Statistic Data Summary twice a year -- one with Fall Quarter data and one with three quarter average data. These summaries include workload, full time equivalent students (FTE) by level, majors, budgeted faculty FTE, other academic dollars, support expenditures, and selected departmental ratios.

  3. CIRS - COURSE INFORMATION REPORTING SYSTEM
  4. This system collects data on courses, i.e., students by level, instructors, type of course, room and time. In approximately the fifth week of the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters, the Deans and subsequently the academic departments receive a computer printout entitled "Enrollments and Student Credit Hours by Course Name" (CIRS 2600). Budget and Planning contacts departments to verify, correct, and collect data for the Class Data Input Form. As part of the data collection function of this unit, Shared Teaching Load of Regularly Scheduled Courses/Sections and Unscheduled Classes--Instructor Contact Hours are sent to the departments with instructions for completion and return by faculty members. A copy of the final report is sent to each academic department. The workload portion of the Departmental Statistics is based on this system.
