Guidance Regarding Bankruptcy Notices Received on Campus

I.             Policy

At the University of California at Riverside (UC Riverside), the Collections department of Student Business Services handles the canvassing and coordination of debts on all bankruptcy proceedings sent to the campus. All notices received by the campus relating to bankruptcy proceedings are to be expeditiously forwarded to the Collections department of Student Business Services. 

II.        Responsibility 

Per CHA0011; Designation of Bankruptcy Coordinator, the Chancellor has designated the Director of Student Business Services to serve as the campus Bankruptcy Coordinator. This position is responsible for filing claims, distributing dividends, and responding to court actions, as required. Additionally, the campus Bankruptcy Coordinator acts as the liaison on bankruptcy issues between UC Riverside and the UC Office of General Counsel.

Refer all questions and concerns regarding bankruptcy notices to the Collections department of Student Business Services, extension 2-3205.

The policy and associated procedures are reviewed, at a minimum every two years, by the Responsible Officer or designee. The Office of Compliance updates this policy and associated procedures to reflect changes to related policies or governing standards, regulations, laws, and other such guidance as often as required.
