The University offers a wide variety of insurance plans to eligible employees and their dependents. Premiums for some plans are paid entirely by the University; some premiums are paid entirely by the employee; others are paid by the University and the employee together. Listed below are the types of insurance plans available:

  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Optical insurance
  • Legal insurance
  • Life insurance
  • University-paid disability insurance
  • Employee-paid disability insurance
  • Accidental death and dismemberment
  • Automobile insurance
  • Homeowners insurance

Brochures are sent to eligible staff employees by the Human Resource office at the time the Personnel Action Form (PAF) is processed. Additional copies obtained from the Benefits Office, extension 4766.


    A career employee who is hired for three months at 100% time or 50% for a year or more may enroll in the health, employee-paid life, automobile, homeowner's and accidental death & dismemberment insurance plans.


    The period for enrollment is limited. It begins the date the above eligibility requirements are met and ends 31 days later. Enrollment is not automatic. The employee must complete the appropriate forms (available from the Storehouse) and submit them to the Payroll Office.
